Clark County Family YMCA Fall 2011 Youth Sports
Along with an emphasis on fair play, fun, and fundamentals, our Youth Sports programs incorporate the YMCA's 5 Chirstian Principles of Love, Respect, Honesty, Responsiblity and Service. Everyone plays equal time and there are no tryouts. Participants of all skill levels are welcome. How are we doing? We depend on your feedback to improve our prgrams. PE GYM and Swim
Grades K-8
Our PE Program focuses on sportmanship and fair play and incorporates the YMCA's 5 Christian Principles of Love, Respect, Honesty, Responsibility and Service. Participants in our PE Sports and Games program will learn the fundamentals of traditional sports, and also play fun and new gym games. Our PE Swim program will focus on water safety, stroke development and aquatic sports. Informational Flier

Rookie Sports
Ages 3-6 years

Our Rookie Sports Program is on Wednesday evenings at the Y from 5:30-6:15 pm. Sports rotate by monthe between soccer, baseball, and basketball. YMCA Rookie Sports is designed to give children and their families a great start in youth sports. We emphasize developing basic physical activities such as running, jumping and balance as well as introducing them to fundamental sport skills such as throwing, catching kicking and hand/eye coordination. Participants will also benefit from the introduction of good sportsmanship, teamwork and positive reinforcement.

Dodgeball League

This is a six week program and there are no practices, just game nights. Games will be played Tuesday evenings at the YMCA. Each game will last about 50 minutes with the 1st - 3rd graders playing first and the
4 - 5th graders playing second. Registration ends October 3rd. All games are played October 11th-November 15th.
League set up is contingent on registered numbers and may be changed.

Important Basketball Dates
Monday, September 21st-Registration ends. Anyone registering after this date will be placed on the waitlist. Team placement and/or team shirt is not guaranteed. A $10 processing fee will be added to all late registrations.
Thursday, September 22nd – Coach's Meeting from 6-7:00 pm at YMCA. Practice day, time and location for 1-12th grade teams determined at meeting.
September 23-25th-Coaches begin contacting their players
September 26th-30th- 1-12th grade practices begin!
Games are played October 6th- November 19th
Rookie Basketball League-Fall League Cancelled

Our Rookie Baketball League is for participants ages 4-6 years. It is desinged to enhance self esteem with emphasis on fair play. Everone plays equal time and ther are no tryouts. Importance is on skill developmnet, teamwork, and having fun! Players will shoot on 8' hoops and we will not keep score. All teams are Co-ed. Each team will have one 20 minute practice followed by a 30 minute game. Games and practices will be on Saturdays at the YMCA. A referee will be provided for all games. In most cases we can accommodate temmate and coach requests, but cannot guarantee team placement. The sooner you sign up during the registration period the easier it is for us to accommodate requests. Participants who register by September 19th will receive a team shirt.

Three Easy Ways To Register
All Financial Assistance appllications must be completed and turned in by September 12th to be eligible.
All participants registered after September 19th will be put on a wait list and charged a $10 late fee. Participants registering after September 19th are not guaranteed a team shirt or placement on a team.

Team Equality
Team equality is of primary importance. The YMCA cannot guarantee that requests for team placement will be honored. But we do our best to accommodate requests.
Volunteer Coaches Needed
We are looking for volunteers to serve as coaches in our YMCA Youth Sports Program. The time commitment is approximately three hours per week: 1 hour for practices, 1 hour for games and 1 hour for planning and maintaining contact with parents and players. No experience necessary. Serve as a role model for parents and youth involved in the program.
